Behind the field manual

Useful notes for a smaller studio

Willow Lane Pottery publishes practical notes about making functional ceramics in a small studio. The emphasis is on repeatable process: preparing clay, centering, drying evenly, testing glazes, firing with records, and understanding why a result changed.

Ceramics combines craft, chemistry, heat, and dust. Our articles distinguish personal studio preferences from safety guidance and manufacturer instructions. Kilns, glazes, and local regulations vary; equipment manuals and qualified local professionals remain the final authority.

The site is independent and educational. It does not sell clay, glazes, kilns, or classes, and it does not accept paid product placement.
